More than 600,000 Venezuelans documented the truth of an election with their phones. The case earned four Cannes Lions 2026 awards. On July 28, 2024, more than 600,000 Venezuelans used their phones to protect the truth of an election. With no budget and no institutional backing, they scanned the QR code the government-controlled electoral authority had printed on every official tally sheet and transmitted the results in real time—40% on election night, 85.18% within 48 hours—from 30,026 tables across more than 15,000 voting centers.
When the authority declared the government's candidate the winner without showing a single tally sheet, the coalition organized as Comando Con Venezuela already had the data. The Associated Press, the Carter Center, and the Washington Post authenticated the evidence, and forty-nine countries called for transparency at the United Nations. We developed this case at Rainbow Lobster and entered it at Cannes Lions 2026, where it earned four awards: Grand Prix For Good, Titanium, Gold in PR, and Gold in Creative Data.
The institutional media budget was $0. The first credit belongs where it always did: to the Venezuelan people who documented the truth with a phone in their hands.
